Breaking The Cycle

-Wynterdollie-

Healthy habits are challenging to build but once they are built, they are easy to maintain. I’ve talked to many people who are eager to start adding fitness and health into their daily routine. After a period of time I connect with them again and notice that they’ve let that drive go and are right back where they started. Some have managed to make it stick while others still fight the same on and off again cycle.

Building a healthy habit is not easy. Once in a long while it’s good to come back and review our purpose as to why we started building it in the first place. This helps us refocus and keeps our flame of persistence alive. Along with that, there are also so many things that we can do to help ourselves make this habit stick. Here’s just a few things that we can do on the daily to help us with our goals.

Don’t wait for time, make time.

Many of us think that the gym go-ers or regular runners or participants of any sports have a whole lot of time which enables them to do what they do. This can’t be further from the truth. The only difference between them and us is that they make time for it. They make it a priority and make sure what they want, gets done regardless of how they feel. Which brings me to my next point.

You don’t feel like going? Go anyway.

It’s easy to go when we are highly motivated. The real growth happens when we go at our lowest points. That moment where you give yourself every excuse in the book, you’re tired, you’ve got lots of chores to catch up on, your muscles are kinda sore….go anyway. A half-assed workout during your low point is way better than the workout that never happened.
