feel free

I needed to know how they do it.

"We run our band like it is a business." Toxic explained, "We each have a set of jobs so no one is burdened with everything and then we can all have fun." Flipper added, "We have respect and communication between the three of us. It is the most important thing."

While at the show, I watched this unfold. Each man took on a job through merch, set up, PR and all were accountable. I was amazed at how efficient, easy and non-dramatic the whole thing was. All guessing was taken out of the equation and it was so awesome to see.

"We take this seriously as this (is) what we want for our future." -this statement was pretty much said unanimously. They all want the same thing and have figured out the best formula for it.

But there are other factors that they face right now. Like how the music industry is changing.

"There are cool things happening, like, you don't need a big record label anymore to make it. You can create your own."

This leaves room for creativity and more control over your own brand. But this can make it harder to attract more attention and market yourself.

"There is the same problem everywhere. We need to attract more people and brainstorm ways to make live music exciting to see again. We need fresh blood in those crowds. It starts with a strong identity but what else can we do?"

One thing that I noticed through this entire interview is that they were not just talking about themselves. They were speaking in terms of putting in the work to adapt and grow with live music as a community and in a more collaborative front.

Also these guys LOVE Edmonton and the scene we have here. "Edmonton is a party city. We always have fun and make friends every time we come here. The Raygun Cowboys and Hellfire Special are great bands to play with too."

In the end, 4 albums, (+1 digital) later and soon to be on their way to the psycho-billy festival in Pineda Spain (July), this trio is breaking through the walls of conformity and creating new paths... and they f@#king rock!
