and the Cowls

Forbidden Dimension started out in 1988 with the end of "Color Me Psycho". It was meant to be a one man band, one-off. This horror rock phenomenon has spanned 29 years and had a few different band members with the same front man, Jaxxon Phibes.

The band has its claws firmly set in Calgary and comes up to Edmonton a couple of times a year to treat their loyal fans to an earful of their signature sounds. This writer has been listening to them from the very beginning, and they are still number one in my horror heart.

This night's show started off with Paul James Coutts and the Cowls to warm up the crowd a bit. Some good riffs,

The Confusionaires were the lovely folks that hosted this night's event. I have been fortunate enough to catch these guys a few times now. Rockabilly at its finest! They are a 3 piece band with drums, guitar and double bass. The music inspired some dancing and hip swinging to set the mood for the headliner.

Forbidden Dimension treated us to some blood soaked tunes from their newest album; It's a Morbid, Morbid, Morbid World! This is the first time I have had a chance to see the new guitar player Virginia Dentata live, and she is the perfect addition to the band. Sweet and sassy with a bit of bite, she completes the murderous trio.

Forbidden Dimension's lyrics are horror based, but not just for Halloween. The music gets you rocking out all year long. From the very beginning, to the latest album, there are riffs that are purely their sound. The lyrics bring to mind classic horror movies and Universal Monsters as well as some crazy cheesy Lloyd Kaufman movies. Spooky fun rock and roll brought to you by Horror Rock's finest.
