W ell, we’re into the 2016 model year now, and with that change comes yet another special Boxster model with—you guessed it—more horsepower, less weight, and an all-new roof system, to boot. Was it able to unseat the GTS as my number 1? Read on. First of all, let’s get to the numbers. The Spyder—finished here in Carrara White with unique 20-inch wheels – is the most powerful Boxster we’ve seen from the factory yet, making 375 horsepower and 309 lb.-ft. of torque; the next most powerful Boxster, the GTS, makes 330 and 273, respectively. That’s a significant jump, helped by the 3.8-litre flat-six it shares with the 911 Carrera S and Cayman GT4. That’s only a small part of the story. Yes, increased power levels are good, but if you ask Porsche, it’s the car’s agility that’s the hallmark of the ”Spyder” name. thedriver.ca 7
