by David Miller Subaru Impreza Sedan Concept S ubaru might not have been the automaker making the biggest splash at the Los Angeles Convention Center, but the South Korean brand definitely made a statement with the unveiling of its Impreza Sedan Concept. The concept builds on not only a new focus for sedans in the future, but on a new global design platform that will shape the future of Subaru vehicles. The first vehicle to showcase this newgeneration of design language will be the 2017 Impreza, and from the looks of things—it’s sure to shake-up the highly competitive compact sedan segment. Let’s start with its exterior looks. The Impreza Sedan Concept takes on a sportier lower and wider stance that goes well with its hawk-eye C-shaped headlights, hexagonal grille and coollooking air vents. The theme continues down its sides with scalloped character lines that work its way to the rear sporting its own C-shaped taillights to complete the overall fresh look. If you feel this look seems familiar, then you probably have seen its other variant, the Impreza 5-door Concept shown off earlier in the year at the Tokyo Motor Show. Both versions are on the same platform, and have been cut in weight to improve on road agility and fuel economy. We haven’t been told what engine will be under the hood when ready for production, but we can say that it will be of the direct-injected boxer variety that we’ve grown accustomed to, and will utilize cylinder deactivation to
