Introduction Secrets of the Cloud Leaders looks at how the best cloud users in the world are turbo charging their businesses. What’s different about how they run their cloud programs — are they just blessed with larger budgets, better talent and in hotter markets? Rest assured, cloud leaders aren’t necessarily luckier than the rest of us, but they have landed on a few key strategies that ultimately drive business growth and competitive advantage. Read on for insight into what those strategies are, and to learn the 5 steps you can take to apply them. If you’re thinking that cloud leaders have it all figured out... think again. This study reinforces that cloud can be challenging, even for those who do it very well. This makes it even more important to exchange ideas, share best prac- tices and learn from failures. Executive Summary In Q4 2017, CloudHealth Technologies and Cloud Technology Partners (CTP) surveyed 550 senior managers from global enterprises of 500 employees or more. All respondents were involved in cloud operations. The questions cen- tered around their organization, cloud operations, and — most importantly — how they were faring with a range of operational metrics. Results were grouped into three camps: Top-tier / Cloud Leaders: Those who showed the very best results with their cloud operations. Bottom-tier / Cloud Laggards: Those who showed the worst results. To tease out which practices led to the best outcomes, we studied the cloud operations practices of each tier, with particular emphasis on the top and bot- tom — i.e. the leaders and the laggards.
