Security
Security is paramount within IoT environments . Cloud platforms used to build IoT solutions must allow data to be encrypted and validated at each stage of ingest , analysis and storage .
Scalability
IoT platforms will continue to grow as more devices are connected , therefore the chosen platform must allow independent pieces to scale in order to keep up with surges in demand .
Agility
IoT platforms must be able to change rapidly . IoT sources continue to evolve as sensors become less expensive and more prolific and intelligent .
IoT platforms can be broken down into three primary stages :
1 ) Acquisition of data
This stage is the process of moving data from the individual device or sensor to a centralized environment , serving as the fabric between all interconnected devices . This stage includes any manipulation of data format and quality checks .
2 ) Analysis of data
During this stage , input data is used to make recommendations and send them to the appropriate user through notifications or physical outputs .
3 ) Storage of data
Once data has been analyzed and a decision made , the original data will be stored for future analysis and manipulation .
