FOOD BUZZ Ain ’ t nothin ’ piddly about Piddle ’ s Place
PARK HILL , Okla . – Having lived on Lake Tenkiller for almost a decade , I ’ ve become rather cynical when I hear , “ They ’ re the best burgers you ever ate , I ’ m tellin ’ ya !” Heard it , tried it , walked out $ 20 poorer and kinda pissed that the newest thing wasn ’ t anything special . But Piddle ’ s Place on Pettit Bay Road on the north end of Lake Tenkiller threw me off my grumbling .
What used to be a little convenience store has been converted into a bar and grill just perfect for a meal or just to hang out . They offer beer with plenty of choices ( including high-point selections ) on tap or in the bottle , complete with frosty mugs and wine choices , making for a perfect drink to accompany your meal ( they also have iced tea , slushies and soft drinks ).
The burgers at Piddle ’ s are definitely the kind that could lead to a stint in burger rehab , because they are just that fantastic . When I asked Billy Dollins their process , he told me that they never use frozen ingredients for anything ; they hand form the patties , season them and marinate them for at least 24 hours before cooking . With a good number of specialty burgers , along with plenty of other options , the possibilities are endless , and all are served with a side of fries or tots . One new offering is the ‘ Tenkiller Fries ’ ( fries topped with cheese and bacon bits , served with a side of ranch dressing ), can upgrade your fry order for a bit of zing , or order a large batch of Tenkiller fries and a glass of wine to make any day a better one .
Piddle ’ s introduced pizza , wings and subs this past winter and each has become a huge success . They didn ’ t leave anything to chance ; Billy makes the pizza sauce fresh each day , with the perfect amount of cheese and plenty of highend topping choices .
The wings were a big shocker ; we expected the usual ( you know , a few nibbles of rubbery meat that you eat because you paid for it ), but their wings were a surprise - they are big , tender with plenty of meat and heat with differing amounts of spice and sauce . And we have to tell you that their subs are very much like the ones you would find in a NYC deli ; so much good meat and veg all stuffed in there , without having to pay extra . Pair a sub with their Tenkiller fries and a cold beer in a frosty mug and life is great . It ’ s even better when you pay your bill - most meals are under $ 10 , making them the place to be this summer .
To entice you further , the folks at Piddle ’ s have live music Friday and Saturday nights with plans to start karaoke . They have cabins and rooms for rent at reasonable prices . Rent a cabin for the weekend and show her a great time .)
