in the middle , people decided to watch comedy with a renewed energy . I strongly believe that this is a great time to be a comic , to watch comedy , and the Netflix era has ushered in a wave of options to choose from . Many will contest that a night spent watching a special from the couch is much easier ; I agree . It is easier , and in some ways , less rewarding . There ’ s something I find in going to an actual theater , or venue , and experiencing every last bit of it live – unproduced , unedited , exactly as is . There ’ s a certain magical quality about being in a time and space like that .
There ’ s a certain magical quality about Chris Rock , too . I don ’ t know . I ’ m not doing it justice .
It ’ s something , I suppose , you ’ ll just have to witness for yourself . subjective , and not everyone may like those jokes , I laugh my lungs out every time .
Something about his writing style is ethereal , raw , and brutally honest . Chris has been up front about growing up in a rather tough world , and it ’ s that level of perspective that I love witnessing on stage . It comes through in his sermonizing style ; long , quick strides across the stage , an unapologetic , accurate , clearly delivered assessment of the situation at hand . And , as is his norm , I wouldn ’ t expect the Total Blackout Tour ( his latest ) to be any different , and I do think it will be legendarily funny .
I don ’ t know . Call it trust in a man that has never disappointed us on stage .
I know tickets aren ’ t the cheapest , but that ’ s what tax refunds are for .
