TULSA , Okla . – In this third installment of “ Oklahoma Gold ” featuring honorary Okie Danny Timms , he himself will be the first to tell you that he indeed a blessed man .
Originally from San Pedro , Cali ., Danny now calls Oklahoma home . His career as a seasoned pianist , guitarist and vocalist has taken him just about everywhere around the globe . Famous for his years with Kris Kristofferson & the Highwayman , there is more to Mr . Timms than just the extraordinary side man .
I first became aware of “ Danno ” as a multiskilled songwriter / instrumentalist on a summer night at The Dusty Dog when fellow Tulsa

Sound blues artist Danny Baker invited me to join the festivities . Myself and 100 others heard the blues that night that included Timms on piano and vocals along with long time Tulsan Gary Gilmore on bass , Chuck Blackwell on drums and percussion and Danny Baker fronting a great performance .
It wasn ’ t long before I wanted to see more performances . Fortune smiled once again in the Fall of 2010 when Timms became a regular draw at Lanna Thai at 71st & Memorial . Despite my distaste for Thai style food , I received a steady diet of great performances from Mr . Timms . I find it most interesting that his distinct style is influenced by more than a few artists from different era ’ s entirely : Aretha Franklin , Wilson Pickett , Paul Butterfield , John Mayall , Jimi Hendrix , Bob Dylan and Oscar Peterson .
On any given day Danny is on the road performing with likes of Scott Musik , Randy Ess and friends that call on Mr . Timms for his distinct style . Then there is his knack for tracks in the studio . If that weren ’ t enough , the talented Timms tirelessly donates time to those in need .
As busy as he is ( with no sign of slowing down ), you can bet it has much to do with longevity of his album / CD entitled One More Roll of the Dice . Released in 2011 , One More Roll is still is a top seller of the DJM catalog and is one of the best collections you will hear . The entire catalog of Timms ’ can be found at all your digital distributors and hard copy CD ’ s from DJM records . Do yourself a huge favor and Google ‘ Danny Timms ’ to tap into a honey hole of songs that stand the test of time . You ’ ll also find him on Reverb Nation performing one of my favorites “ Nothin ’ Else Will Do ”.
