Commitment to Research
The Children’s Hospital Colorado Research Institute continues to
spearhead basic, clinical and outcome discoveries that drive the
development of new medicines, devices, diagnostic approaches
and other healthcare innovations.
Our scientists, physicians and staff have implemented an
ambitious strategic plan to expand the scope and quality of child
health research in virtually every pediatric subspecialty.
We’ve been Magnet-recognized by the American Nurses
Credentialing Center for the third time, a designation only
3 percent of hospitals achieve.
First, Do No Harm
Now in its fifth year, our Target Zero patient safety program trains
all team members in practices designed to curb hospital-acquired
conditions. These practices have led not only to a drastic reduction
in serious safety events at Children’s Colorado, but to better
practices around the country. The success of Target Zero has
allowed us a leadership role in a collaborative of more than 130
pediatric hospitals working to improve patient safety nationwide.

Intensive Support When it Counts
Our world-class Pediatric Intensive Care Unit team supports
every area of our hospital in the most crucial situations. Because
we care for some of our region’s sickest children, our PICU’s
patients are on average more acutely ill than those seen at similar
top pediatric ICUs across the nation — and, given the severity of
their illnesses, survive at higher rates. All that with shorter-than-
average stays. It’s just one of the ways we’re working together to
elevate the standard of care at the most critical of times.
