THE INSIDE SCOOP Yale Golfers Win Ivy League, Compete in Columbus Regional T he Yale Men’s golf team captured both the team and individual titles in late April’s Ivy League Championship at the Stonewall Old Course in Elverson, Pa. Tied with Harvard after two of three rounds, Yale dominated on Sunday, with 282, to win by 22 shots over second-place Dartmouth. Harvard tied for third. It was Yale’s first Ivy League title since 2011. That final round was exactly 18 shots better than Friday’s, after which they led by one. Junior Eoin Leonard (right) won the individual title in a one-hole playoff with teammate James Nicholas, also a junior, after each finished with 219. Nicholas was the Ivy League’s Player of the Year. The victory gives Yale an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals, which they played at Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course May 14-16. “The boys are excited for the NCAA Regionals, and they share my senti- ment that we are capable of contending for one of the five spots to ad- vance to the Nationals,” said coach Colin Sheehan.
