83 rd Connecticut Open Championship
July 31st - August 2nd at Ellington Ridge Country Club (Ellington, Conn.)
Who Can Play: The championship is open to all CSGA amateurs who hold an active handicap
index not exceeding 6.4, Connecticut Section PGA members, and Golf Professionals residing in
Connecticut or working at CSGA member clubs.
Last Year’s Championship: After an opening round of 75 and an even-par front nine to start his
second round, Adam Rainaud of Black Hall Club played eleven under par in his final twenty-seven
holes to capture the title, making eleven birdies and no bogies. He shot a 31 on his final nine in
the second round for a blistering 66 that boosted him into contention, and his final round 65 tied
the course record at Woodway Country Club.
One Quick Fact: The 2017 Connecticut Open will mark the fourth time that Ellington Ridge Country
Club has played host to this prestigious event. The club has previously hosted the Connecticut
Open in 1975, 1979 and 1998, the Connecticut Amateur in 2008, and annually hosts the UCONN
Connecticut Cup.
