The CSGA One Day Tournaments have long been a way for Connecticut golfers of all ages and abilities to participate in a fun yet competitive atmosphere. For the first time since its inception, the CSGA will conduct a total of fourteen One Day Tournaments at some of Connecticut’s best courses. The 2015 One Day Tournament season will once again kick off at Wethersfield Country Club on April 13th. Always in excellent playing condition, Wethersfield Country Club is renowned as the site of the Insurance City Open/Greater Hartford Open for 32 years from 1952 until 1983. To say the list of names who played and won at Wethersfield is impressive is an understatement - Arnold Palmer won his first PGA Tour event in the United States, Sam Snead won in 1956 and Billy Casper became the first player to win a PGA Tour event four times - just to name a few. Wethersfield CC is followed by consecutive trips to a pair of Connecticut’s most storied clubs New Haven Country Club on April 20th and Country Club of Waterbury on April 27th. Among the fourteen events, two of the events will also be Four-Ball Team Events - May 11th at Chippanee Country Club and September 1st at Skungamaug River Golf Club. The season will conclude with the 14th One Day Championship at Shennecossett Golf Course (pictured left). Founded in 1898 and designed by famed architect Donald Ross, Shennecossett Golf Course is perched between the Long Island Sound and Thames River and combines incredible water views with a challenging set of green complexes. The top five finishers in each division, gross and net, at each One Day event throughout the season will receieve an invitation to compete in the seasonending championship. The One Day Player of the Year Race, sponsored by Chris Cote’s Golf Shop, will also be decided at Shennecossett, where a total of $4,000 in golf shop credit will be distributed to the top point finishers. The entry fee for each One Day Tournament is $75 and includes golf, cart and prizes. Registration opens six days prior to the event at 6:00 a.m. on the CSGA website at csgalinks.org www.csgalinks.org CSGA Links // March, 2015 | 25
