championship by 29 strokes, a record margin of
victory in the 47-year history of the event. Connor
O’Brien (Norwalk, Oak Hills Park GC), who defeated
Grenus in the finals of the 2013 CSGA Junior, and
Nathaniel Dong (Glastonbury, Tallwood CC) were
members of both the 2013 and 2014 teams.
The 2014 Connecticut Junior Team was
a relatively young squad as only Grenus and
O’Brien will reach their 18th birthday prior to
next year’s Championship. In addition to Dong,
Max Theodorakis (Danbury, Ridgewood CC),
Andrew Sciarretta (Wilton, Brooklawn CC), Jason
Liu (Windsor, Wintonbury Hills GC), and Michael
VanDerLaan (Southbury, CC of Waterbury) will
all be eligible for selection to next year’s team.
The 2015 New England Junior Championship will
be hosted by Maine at Purpoodock Club in Cape
Elizabeth.
