Kingsbarn Golf Links Royal Troon Golf Club Off the Course Scotland is known as the home of golf, but it is also home to some of the world’s most ancient structures and ruins dating back to 100 B.C. The Dun Carloway Broch is one of the best-preserved examples of a broch – a type of fortification found only in Scotland. There are well over 500 of them across the country, the majority in northern and western Scotland and the islands. The broch stands on a knuckle of rock with sweeping views over Lewis and the surrounding terrain. Connecticut State Golf Association 27
