The CSGA recently updated its Tournament Policies
regarding Cell Phones and Distance Measuring Devices
for the 2014 season. Below are the new policies which
all tournament players should be familiar with.
Measuring Devices:
For all play in CSGA events a player may obtain
distance information using a device that measures
distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player
uses a distance measuring device that is designed to
gauge or measure other conditions that might affect
his play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.),
the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the
penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any
such additional function is actually used.

Cell Phones:
The use of a multi-functional device for distance
measuring purposes is permitted (when adopted as
a Condition of Competition). However, players and/or
their caddies are advised that the use of such devices
(other than for emergency purposes) in their traditional
manner (talking, texting, etc.) is discourteous and may
be distracting to others.
The use of such devices, in their traditional
manner, is strongly discouraged and may be considered
a serious breach of etiquette and therefore “The
Committee” reserves the right to invoke Rule 33-7
(Disqualification Penalty; Committee Discretion). If “The
Committee” invokes Rule 33-7, the CSGA Competitions
Committee may pursue further disciplinary action
including but not limited to the withdrawal of playing
privileges for future CSGA events.”
