NEGA Features Full Slate of Championships for 2014 The New England Golf Association (NEGA) has released their schedule for 2014, which includes a slate of premiere championships for all ages at some of the top golf courses in the Northeast. New England Amateur Championship Winchester Country Club Dates: July 22nd - 24th (72 Holes Stroke Play) Eligibility: Entries are open to amateur golfers who hold membership in a club belonging to one of the six New England State Golf Associations and have an up-to-date USGA/GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 5.4. About the Club: Founded in 1902 in Winchester, Massachusetts, the present 18-hole championship layout was designed by Donald Ross in 1926. The course measures 6,832 yards from the back tees and plays to a par of 71. New England Senior Amateur Championship Dates: September 16th - 17th (36 Holes Stroke Play) Eligibility: Entries are open to amateur golfers who will have reached their 55th birthday by September 16, 2014, hold membership in a club belonging to one of the six New England State Golf Associations and have an up-to-date USGA/GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 7.5 (for ages 55-64) and 9.4 (for ages 65 and up). About the Club: Laconia Country Club is nestled between Lake Opechee and Lake Winnipesaukee’s Paugus Bay in the heart of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The course offers the perfect combination of beauty and grace just a few miles from downtown Laconia. Comprehensive renovations of the course have resulted in an impeccably maintained championship course that was voted as one of the “Top 100 Must Play Courses of New England” by Golfstyles magazine for 2005 and 2006. Laconia Country Club New England Junior Amateur Invitational Dates: August 18th - 20th (54 Holes Stroke Play) Eligibility: Open to amateur golfers who have not reached their 18th birthdaty by the start of the championship. Team Selection: Top junior golfers from each of the six New England states are selected by a committee. Players are selected for the team based on finish in local, regional and national events. The Connecticut Junior Amateur Champion and Ledgemont Country Club Runner-Up receive an automatic invitation. About the Club: The current Championship golf course at Ledgemont CC was designed by renowned architect Alfred Tull.
