Last month we looked at some of Connecticut’s top teenagers, and in this edition of The CSGA Links
we feature the best of the best from the senior set.

Tunxis Plantation Country Club
Captured five straight CSGA Senior Player of the Year titles from 2009
to 2013 by a combined 4,070 points. In 2013, won the Connecticut
Senior Match Play Championship for the third time in four years, and
won the 2013 Tournament of Champions. Szewczul qualified for the
113th U.S. Amateur Championship and competed as the oldest player
in the field, and the only player who also played the U.S. Amateur the
last time it was played at The Country Club in 1982. He also advanced
to the Quarterfinals of the 58th U.S. Senior Amateur Championship
after claiming the #6 seed in stroke play qualifying. Inducted into the
Connecticut Golf Hall of Fame in 2010.

Black Hall Club
Runner-Up in four events in 2013 (68th Conn. Senior Amateur, 16th
New England Senior Amateur, 8th Tournament of Champions and 32nd
Senior Four-Ball Championship) and finished 2nd in the Dick Siderowf
Senior Player of the Year race. Won the Connecticut Amateur in 1991
(Finalist in 1981 and ‘99), the Connecticut Mid-Amateur in 1990, ‘91,
‘92, ‘93 and 2001 (Runner-Up 1989, ‘94 and ‘96). 26-time member of
the Julius Boros Challenge Cup team. Named the CSGA Player of the
Year in 1991 and inducted into the Connecticut Golf Hall of Fame in

Won his first CSGA major championship in 2013 at Tallwood
Country Club by capturing the 68th Connecticut Senior Amateur
Championship. Won the 2013 Club Championship at Hartford Golf
Club, becoming the oldest Champion in the history of the event,
and the first to win the event in four different decades. Qualified
for U.S. Amateur in 1991 and 1994, British Amateur in 1992, U.S.
Mid-Amateur in 1995, 1997 and 2007, and U.S. Senior Amateur in
2003. Holds the Course Record at Hartford Golf Club on th H
