Lake of Isles
Widely regarded as one of New England’s top golf facilities, this month’s featured courses are the North and South course at Lake of Isles in North Stonington, Connecticut. Opened in the Spring of 2005 and operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Indians and Foxwoods Casino, the steep terrain and ninety-acre lake offered designer Rees Jones a dramatic landscape to design this great facility. Both courses are marked by dramatic elevation changes and incredible vistas that offer quite a unique challenge. The North Course, which is classi?ed as the Resort Course, measures nearly 7,300 yards from the back tees! However,, there are six sets of tees that allow even the most modest of golfers to enjoy their round. Pictured below is the par-5 8th hole, the signature hole on the South Course. From the tee, which is nearly 100 feet above the green, the golfer gets their ?rst look at the impressive Foxwoods Casino and Hotel.
