Situated in the rolling hills of Danbury , there ’ s very little doubt that Richter Park Golf Course is one of Connecticut ’ s top public courses . The course stretches over 180 acres of gentle rolling terrain , with the West Lake Reservoir bordering seven holes on the front nine and Boggs Pond bordering the signature 12th hole on the back nine .
The par-72 layout plays at 6,744 yards from the back tees and provides a demanding , yet fair test of each golfer ’ s abilities . Designed by Edward Ryder and founded 1968 , the course is bordered by large trees that make for a special treat against the backdrop of the hills .
Among the many highlights of Richter Park are the 42 newly-renovated bunkers that contribute to the superior playing conditions that the course is known for .

Richter Park has played host to a variety of the state ’ s top amateur championships , including the 2009 Connecticut Public Links Championship . Ken Green , former PGA Tour player and Connecticut resident , has held the current course record for 33 years with an impressive round of 8-under par 64 .
