Courville Memorial Announces Format Changes

The Jerry Courville , Sr . Memorial has announced several changes to the prestigious event held annually at Shorehaven Golf Club . Most notably , The Memorial , once an invitation only event , has decided to open its doors to any qualified team from a Connecticut State Golf Association or Metropolitan Golf Association member club .
Jerry Courville Sr . was recognized , not only as one of America ’ s outstanding amateur players , but was also one of golf ’ s finer gentlemen and a true ambassador for golf . In an amateur career that spanned nearly three decades , Courville won the MET IKE Championship , both the MET and Connecticut Amateur Championships , the Northeast Amateur , both the MET and Connecticut Senior Amateur Championships , and is one of only a handful of golfers to win both the Connecticut and MET Open Championships .
Another addition to Fairfield County ’ s most prestigious four-ball team Championship are CSGA Player of the Year Points for top finishing teams in both the regular and senior division . Also available to a winning team with members belonging to the same club is an invitation to the Anderson Four-Ball Championship conducted each year at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck , NY .
Entries are open to any two person teams , belonging to a MET or CSGA member club , with a combined handicap index of 8.0 or less and team members do not have to be from the same club .

8th Tournament of Champions Rescheduled

Nearly six inches of rain fell at Bulls Bridge Country Club in Kent , Connecticut over a 48 hour span , which forced the CSGA to reschedule the 8th Tournament of Champions . The tournament , which brings together past Champions of CSGA events , as well as Club Champions of CSGA member clubs , will now be played on Wednesday , September 4th . Registration will reopen for all eligible players .
