Dates : May 20th - 21st ( 54 Holes Stroke Play ) Last Year : In 2012 , Sam Bernstein of The Course at Yale fired an opening round 64 en route to a three round total of 204 ( -3) and a four shot victory over Blake Morris and Tommy McDonagh . One Quick Fact : In addition to hosting the Palmer Cup for the fifth time , the CC of Waterbury has also hosted ten Connecticut Amateur Championships and the 2005 Connecticut Open Championship .
15th Connecticut Women ’ s Open
Dates : May 28th - 29th ( 36 Holes Stroke Play ) Last Year : In 2012 , 14-year old Megan Khang of Rockland , Massachusetts became the youngest champion in tournament history by shooting a two round total of 1-under par 143 to edge 2008 champion Lynn Valentine by two shots . One Quick Fact : The Connecticut Women ’ s Open Championship is open to any amateur or professional female golfer and is the CSGA ’ s only championship that is open to non-residents of Connecticut . The event has a rich history of producing champions , and past winners include Liz Janangelo , former LPGA Tour Professional , and Suzy Whaley , PGA and LPGA Professional .

7th Senior Match Play Championship
Dates : June 3rd - 5th ( Match Play ) Last Year : In 2012 , Dave Szewczul of Tunxis Plantation Country Club relied on his impressive short game en route to becoming the first twotime winner of the Senior Match Play Championship . One Quick Fact : The club has quite an interesting history , having been originally constructed by Lawrence A . Wien , one of the owners of New York ’ s Empire State Building . Wien built the facility with the original intent of having the club restricted for his own personal use ; however , he would go on to open the club for restricted membership , pitching the club as a getaway for avid golfers from New York City .
111th Connecticut Amateur Championship
Dates : June 17th - 21st ( Match Play ) Last Year : In 2012 , Matt Smith of Quinnatisset defeated Ben Conroy of eClub of River Valley to capture his first Conn . Amateur title . One Quick Fact : The 2013 Connecticut Amateur will mark the sixteenth time , the most by any Connecticut club , that the state ’ s top amateurs have come to New Haven Country Club to crown a champion .
