From the Senior Match Play in June, his second consecutive
major victory, to the Senior Amateur in October, when he
fi nished third, Patrick McGuiness of Keney Park worked
hard for his Dick Siderowf Senior Player of the Year title.
He amassed 731 POY points, edging by just 85 Hall of Fame
member Bill Hermanson, who narrowed the gap by defeating
McGuiness in a playoff at the Tournament of Champions
and fi nishing one spot ahead of him in the Senior Amateur
at Shorehaven. The rivals became teammates at the Tri-
States in October, helping the Connecticut side sweep team
competition for the fi rst time in modern history.
