SIDELINES NEWTON’S BEST KEPT SECRET Kurt Taylor Jr., a sophomore running back at Newton, is getting a lot of attention from power-five schools and it’s time people know who he is. Taylor is one of the best kept secrets in Newton. He and his father stopped by The Covington News to talk about the kind of a player/ person he is. 3 Rams sign letters of intent — Newton basketball players D.J. Hill, Antonio Smith and Donovan Grubb all signed their letters of intent on Wednesday to attend college. Hill got a full ride to the University of Mobile and Grubb and Smith both accepted full scholarships from West Georgia Tech. Mathis signs with Brevard — Eastside football/basketball player Quintrell Mathis signed to play football with Brevard College on Monday.
