Judy Dinsmore, Aroostook County Tourism CONTENTS About The County GREETINGS FROM THE COUNTY, The Seasons............................ 4 The Regions.......................... 6 We are all delighted that you are interested in coming to the region for a visit or vacation some time soon. Scenic Drives.............................. 8 Having lived, worked, and played in The County for most of my life, I have such fond memories of the wonderland of a winter’s day cruising on a snowmobile, a spring morning of fishing deep in the woods, or picking great big vases of brilliantly colored lupine for the table up at our camp. Paddling.................................... 12 Through the years I have grown fond of the close-knit communities all over Aroostook County, watching as each year they gather together to celebrate the things that make living here special. If you are coming this summer, I especially suggest heading to Fort Fairfield for the 70th Annual Maine Potato Blossom Festival; you’ll thank me later. Camping................................... 22 Outdoorsy types probably already know that The County is one of the best places ever to enjoy outside recreation. There are quite literally MILLIONS of acres here to be explored on foot, by bike, snowmobile, canoe, kayak, car, ATV, snowshoe, ski, or even dog sled.
