AN ABUNDANCE OF FESTIVALS AND EVENTS
brings local communities and visitors together to celebrate The County
from potatoes and ploye to “midsommar” and winter wonder.
September 2018 brings an amazing event to The County. BikeMaine 2018,
whose 450 rider slots are already taken, will take a leisurely week-long 320-mile
ride across much of the region. While you can’t ride along, you can certainly
join in the festivities in each community along the way. Learn more at

Other don’t-misses: Houlton’s Midnight Madness and Agricultural Fair, both
family-fun events; Presque Isle’s gorgeous Crown of Maine Balloon Festival;
and Fort Fairfield’s Maine Potato Blossom Festival. Fort Kent holds its popular
Muskie Derby & Ploye Festival in August, featuring massive ployes and bragging
rights among fishermen. Midsommar Festival is a celebration of the Swedish
heritage through fun, food, dance, and song. Also visit smaller community
events, like Caribou’s Thursdays on Sweden Street and the Caribou Marathon!
