homas Jonathan Jackson was born on January 21, 1824 in Clarksburg, West

Virginia. Under Robert E. Lee, he serves as the Confederate general. In 1842 Jackson enrolled in the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. He fought in the Mexican- American war and was recruited by Robert E. Lee for the Civil war. He commanded forces during Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. He earned his nickname "Stonewall Jackson" at the battle of Chancellorsville.
