And I think eventually I discovered the true nature of what I was doing. If you want to build thing, you need a stable foundations. If you don’t do things thoroughly, it might be fine then, but like in three or ten years, you never know what little shake might do to that loose bolt. You’ve chosen to live in LA, a city full of cars, your studio is in downtown LA, but you don’t drive and ride your bike everywhere. Was this a conscious choice? And how does it inform your everyday? Yes it was a conscious choice. Before I decided to move to LA, I was riding my bicycle all the time; it was kind of my dream. Korea has 4 seasons so it makes it difficult to ride all the time. However LA is always mostly sunny so I was really looking forward to being able to ride my bicycle all the time. And secondly, I knew a car would be a big financial liability when I wouldn’t be having a stable job. I was looking into doing all the things that were considered not ideal or financially unstable; haha .I had to plan my day perfectly before I left my house. Because without a car, stopping by home or going spontaneously grocery shopping was a great luxury. If somebody wanted to change the location of a meeting it was devastating; haha. However it gave me time to process and think about stuff. It gave me physical strength and also relieved stress. It feels so good to be on your bike on a nice day. It gave me so much freedom and restrictions at the same time. I thought I went around fairly far, but driving a car made me realize that I was in the well. This is why I have to experience more.
