Either way you get paid.’ The corner of his lips turned up into a mirth filled grin that danced with the idea of turning into laughter. The one thing I’ve learned in this racket is that there’s no such thing as “easy money” and anyone who believes there is, is either dead or serving time in the joint. Straightened the front of his suit jacket and began for the door. ‘What makes you think I won’t just go on vacation for three days and come back to say I didn’t find her?’ Brevis stopped and turned slowly toward me. ‘I have faith in two things in this matter Mr. Stone. Now that you have seen her you will be compelled to find her. And I have the utmost faith in Mr. Sullivan.’ At that he glanced to the stickman who was holding the door open. Mr. Sullivan turned his attention to me and gave me a slight nod of his head. ‘Hey before you disappear, how do I contact you and where do you think is a good place to start my search?’ ‘Everything you will need is in the envelope with the photos.’ he was almost out the door when he stopped and turned to look me square in the eyes, ‘Be careful Mr. Stone, if you do find her. She is much more than she seems.’ With that he was in the hallway with Mr. Sullivan close behind him. The door closed and the sound of their footstep retreated into the distance.
