N ouveau Noir! Interview - Toledo TC - The show is like a Noir Cabaret what is it about the Noir genre that influences you? Toledo - I love the old gangster movies ,the hard boiled glibness of words that slid like razors from the mouths of femme fatales into the ears of stone cold killers right before that kiss sealed fates like a blessed curse. TC - There are a lot of moving parts to the Toledo Show - the band, the dancers, your choreography, guest performers - what is the rehearsal process like? Toledo - I rehearse with the Dames usually on Sundays at Harvelles, never with the band we make up all our songs on stage and record me and hone me later. TC - Not only do you dance, sing, choreograph - you also design and make the costumes - is it a creative control thing or just the need to always be creating? Toledo - When you have a vision the best way to make sure it comes into fusion is to do it yourself and once the arena is set, invite in all the other minds to play. And I get off on making something outta nothing and watching it become something that makes ya feel. 52 THE CONE - ISSUE #3 - AUTUMN 2014
