A Place We Love
I know Edgar is our resident gourmand so I don’t want to tread in his
domain too much, but it just so happens that “A Place We Love” turns
out to be a restaurant. In fact it has quickly become one of my
favorites and lucky for me it is very close to where I live.
!
Flores and The Ladies Gunboat Society is a name you might not
remember right away and more than likely when first hearing it you
couldn’t imagine a restaurant carrying that moniker, but believe me
once you taste the food it is a name you won’t soon forget. The
question everyone asks me when I mention my new guilty pleasure is
of course “What kind of food is it?” Of course I usually just reply “Good
food”, but seeing how that is not always enough I have to go with how I
once heard it described on the radio which was “a twist on Southern
Cooking”.
!
They have a changing menu that adjusts based on the season and the
local vendors who supply their produce and various ingredients. I
introduced the restaurant to my Boys Night Out crew and they loved
it. After ordering an array of dishes, not to mention several of them
more than once (the Antebellum Grits we ordered no less than 3
times) we walked away totally satiated. But there is more to Flores
and The Ladies Gunboat Society than the food — the ambiance is
great. Our 7pm reservation for Boys Night Out saw us walking out the
door over 3 hours later as the staff stacked chairs and cleaned up. The
place is that just that comfortable.
!
So if you have the occasion of being on the Westside of LA and you
have a craving for something new, I strongly suggest stopping by
Flores and The Ladies Gunboat Society for dinner.I dare say you won’t
be disappointed. After all it’s a place we love [
