A Place We Love I know Edgar is our resident gourmand so I don’t want to tread in his domain too much, but it just so happens that “A Place We Love” turns out to be a restaurant. In fact it has quickly become one of my favorites and lucky for me it is very close to where I live. ! Flores and The Ladies Gunboat Society is a name you might not remember right away and more than likely when first hearing it you couldn’t imagine a restaurant carrying that moniker, but believe me once you taste the food it is a name you won’t soon forget. The question everyone asks me when I mention my new guilty pleasure is of course “What kind of food is it?” Of course I usually just reply “Good food”, but seeing how that is not always enough I have to go with how I once heard it described on the radio which was “a twist on Southern Cooking”. ! They have a changing menu that adjusts based on the season and the local vendors who supply their produce and various ingredients. I introduced the restaurant to my Boys Night Out crew and they loved it. After ordering an array of dishes, not to mention several of them more than once (the Antebellum Grits we ordered no less than 3 times) we walked away totally satiated. But there is more to Flores and The Ladies Gunboat Society than the food — the ambiance is great. Our 7pm reservation for Boys Night Out saw us walking out the door over 3 hours later as the staff stacked chairs and cleaned up. The place is that just that comfortable. ! So if you have the occasion of being on the Westside of LA and you have a craving for something new, I strongly suggest stopping by Flores and The Ladies Gunboat Society for dinner.I dare say you won’t be disappointed.
