You recently recorded a new album “ An American Affair ”, produced by Sean Hamilton and JD Salbego , and they have worked with Justin Bieber & Demi Lovato - who found who and what was your experience like in recording the album ?
A friend of mine that lives in LA , knew JD and he thought it would be a good idea to work with him . I checked up on his work and decided to contact him . And with Sean it was really funny . While I was in LA finishing a few songs with JD , I was attending this Music Expo at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood . I met a German publisher that invited me to go to the famous “ Hotel Cafe ”. She introduced me to another publisher and when I said I was looking for a producer , he said “ I have the best one , Sean !”
The next day I had a meeting with him and a few months later we were working on the rest of the album . They are both great producers and working with them has been an incredible experience and a luxury . I knew that I wanted to have different producers in the album and I spent a lot of time trying to find the right ones , but having these two on my first album - never in a million year would I have thought about it . I thought they will say no because I am nobody compared to Justin Bieber , but they like what I was doing , the songs and my passion .
Now I can proudly say that thanks to this album , the efforts put there and the expectations generated , I ’ m gonna record a new song with another great producer - Luigie Gonzalez ( Lugo ), in Spanish and for the Latin market . So I am very excited for what is coming next year .
Are all the songs in English or is a mixture of Spanish and English language songs ?
All the songs are in English except one that is Spanish / English . I am a very curious and versatile singer and I like different genres , but there is always one that people seem to identify you with so I wanted also to try different styles in this album and see what the reaction will be of the people . That ’ s why I decided to have a bit of Latin in it . And since they loved it , we made a music video out of the Latin one - “ Solo Pienso En Ti ”.
How would you describe the over all feel of the album ?
A I wanted to pay tribute to my American influences so it is a soulful pop album with a bit of blues and a bit of Latin .
If you could be the opening act for an upcoming tour , whose tour would you like to be on and why ?
A Business wise I should say Adele , Rihanna or Lady Gaga cause they move lot of people so I will be exposed at a massive scale . Marketing wise I would say , Enrique Iglesias , Shakira or J . Lo cause I ’ m from Spain so I should be with the big Latin acts . But personally I would like to open for the Stones or ACDC .
