D.I.Y. Lab Homemade Marshmallows By Carley Steiner Summer is fast approaching, it’s time to indulge in longer days, warmer nights and things cooked outside over a fire. While there will be a lot of folks giving you tips on the best way to use your grill or campfire to make just the perfect cut of meat, I thought I would be better served to help with dessert. What better way to end a great BBQ or camp night than with homemade treats! And what better treat than the classic S’more. I’m going to help take your S’mores to the next level with these little pillows of sweetness that you can easily make in your own kitchen. You’ll never buy a bag of Jet-Puff again and anyone you serve them to will definitely be impressed. Homemade Marshmallows 2/3 cup of water (divided) 3 envelopes of unflavored gelatin 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup light corn syrup Pinch of salt 1 teaspoon of vanilla (or rosewater, peppermint, almond extract, whatever you like!) 1 cup of confectioner’ sugar Nonstick cooking spray A few drops of food coloring (optional) 9 .Try to restrain yourself from eating them all and save them for the S’mores.
