A brief introduction of yourself and your journey to
becoming a partner at MWK
I began my career in law as a law lecturer in 1997 before embarking on
my journey in legal practice as a pupil in 1998. I was later called to the Bar
in 1999. After working for about 4 years at Messrs David Lingam & Co., I
established my own law firm in 2003.

MahWengKwai & Associate
(MWKA) where he is the
Head of Real Estate Practice
Group and the Head of the
Sports Law Practice Group
(SLPG). He is also a fellow
Partner in the Dispute
Resolution Practice Group.
Richard is acknowledged as
an expert in Sports Law by
Legal 500 (2018), Asian Law
Portal (2017); and MWKA
was also acknowledged by
Asian Legal Business Journal
as the Best Boutique Law
Firm for Sports Law services
in 2017. At the 5th Annual
Malaysia Law Awards in
March 2018, MWKA was
awarded the inaugural
“Sports Law Firm of the
Year” Award.
Outside work, Richard spent
much time with his family &
friends; and is a fairly well
known ardent follower of
Everton Football Club.
