Motto and Skills
In 2005 , I joined the IIUM Team to compete in the National Moot Competition . We managed to reach the finals but lost to the UiTM Team . By then , I had developed a great deal of passion in legal research and advocacy which led me to audition for the IIUM International Moot Team . I was accepted and were assigned together with five other team members to participate in the 13th Willem C . Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot ( Vis Moot ) in 2006 . The competition is divided into two crucial phases : the writing of memorandums for claimant and respondent and the hearing of oral argument based upon the memorandums over a period of 10 months .
Being the pioneer team for the university and Malaysia had put an amount of pressure on the team . Sacrifices were inevitable but we were handsomely rewarded as the team qualified as finalist and emerged as one of the top 16 teams from 156 competing teams . We were grateful and ecstatic for such an achievement . The hardship and experiences in preparing for the moot and the exposure of competing internationally had refined not only my character but perspectives of life . I also learn the true definition of teamwork and was lucky enough to find a mentor , soul sisters and brothers in the IIUM Vis Moot team .
Subsequently , I went on to participate in the 14th Vis Moot competition with another set of team members and International Infrastructure and Construction Law Arbitration Moot ( IICLAM ) that was held in New Delhi , India was the finale of my mooting life . Besides mooting , I was also involved in other university activities such as mock trials and orientation programmes for new students . I had a busy yet fulfilling university life which experiences and skills proved useful for the working environment .

Motto and Skills

“ A-ttitude , S-kills & K-nowledge ” or “ ASK ” is an important epigram that I instilled in my life since my secondary education years in SMK Subang Utama . One must always nurture positive attitudes of life in order to acquire relevant skills for survival and never fall short in the pursuit of knowledge . Hence , the act of asking is part of the learning process in order to obtain new knowledge .
I have developed better analytical and critical thinking ability , improved my research competency and enhance my writing and organization skills not just because of being a law graduate but a mooter as well . Although these hard skills are important and applicable in any kind of legal career , a law graduate must also be best equipped with soft skills . Examples of soft skills are communication skills , adaptability and decision making ability , being able to work in a team and displaying leadership skills – just to note a few . There must be a balance between having both set of skills to determine the success of your future career .
