Civil War Series

The Civil War is America’s great story,” said Dr. Chris Mackowski, professor in the Russell J. Jandoli School of Journalism and Mass Communication and co-author of two books within Savas Beatie Publishing's new Civil War series.

Mackowski, who wrote alongside Kristopher White, historian for the Penn-Trafford Recreation Board, said the aim is to grab the reader’s attention and get them interested in finding out more information.

“What makes it so vital, though, is that it’s not just the story of us as a nation, it’s the story of us as individuals — real people with real hopes and fears and dreams and flaws," he said.

"Telling those very human stories in the context of that vital national story sits at the heart of this series.”

The series uses many photos to reinforce the stories, said Mackowski. The books are intended for both general audiences and Civil War aficionados.

NOTE: The five-book series is available via Amazon and Barnes and Noble in both print and EPUB formats.
