The 2018 Fall CME & Alumni weekend took place October 19-21st on the UNE Biddeford Campus. The event featured lectures from alumni across the country. Deanna St. Germain, DO ’83 traveled the furthest (from the state of Oregon) to deliver her talk, “The Importance of Sentinel Injuries in Protecting Children.” She is the current medical director of Kid’s FIRST Center, an intervention center for child abuse, and has been working as a child advocate for over thirty years.

The weekend started off with a lecture by Mary Lopresti, DO ’08 on breast cancer and caring for survivors, followed by a cardiology update for aortic stenosis by Kathleen Harper, DO ’87. The weekend continued with specialists from neurology, immunology, rheumatology, pulmonology, pain medicine, OMM, pediatrics, endocrinology, sports medicine, and research on osteoarthritis by COM Biomedical Faculty, Tamara King, PhD. According to one COM student , Rodger Carter, OMS-II, who attended the weekend, “I always love to learn from those who are experienced. I got a nice [OMM] treatment on Saturday and found the TMJ anatomy [lecture by Dr. Gregory Stevens, DO ’12] very interesting.”
