UNE COM was a formidable presence in research at the conference as well. Fourth-year COM students, Cindy Ranganathan, Jeff Wisniowski, and Justin Berkner, and COM faculty, Christopher Boni, DO won second place in the BIOM student poster contest in the global health outreach category. The title of their research was, "Diabetes management in short term medical mission trips: Pilot study with analysis of clinical metrics and patient reported outcomes.”

COM faculty also gave talks throughout the weekend. John Kazilionis, DO did a lecture for the ACOFP portion of the seminar called, "Sex and Gender Based Medicine." His talk presented information about the differences in clinical presentation and response to treatment of male, female and transgender patients with various diseases. Dr. Kazilionis stressed the need to individualize treatment of patients with these differences in mind, and why it is important to include such information in the curricula of medical schools.
