Four graduates , one family

NEW SAINT ANDREWS COL- LEGE PROVIDES SUCH A unique education that it can draw students from far-flung parts of the country — or , in the case of the Pliego family , all the way from Mexico City . At the 2017 New Saint Andrews commencement on Thursday , no less than four Pliego children and in-laws will receive their diplomas .
It all started when Mexico City residents Carlos and Becky Pliego discovered classical education , when their oldest son , Santiago ( NSA ‘ 15 ), was about 10 years old . The Pliegos wanted to give their children broader educational horizons , and so they attended teacher training conferences across the United States . At one conference , someone handed them a flier for Veritas Press Scholars Academy , an online school that opened up educational opportunities that weren ’ t possible in brick-and-mortar schools in Mexico . Santiago enrolled , and after a year the family was hooked . Santiago ’ s younger siblings Ana Sofia and Nikko , who will graduate in this year ’ s class at NSA , soon followed .
Through VPSA , the Pliegos met other families from across North America who would become close friends . Kate Basilici ,
