STUDENT POETRY Breath by Devon Doornbos Rarely we recognize The feat we complete Every few ticks. We barely realize It’s happening. Subtle, Like the beat of the heart, Not by hiding, but by Presiding, constantly. We can’t but ignore it. We lack the time to Guide it so we let it take Care of itself and we Don’t notice it until Something comes and throws Off its rhythm then We pause. Slow down. Fill lungs with fresh air. Move on.
