Burkina Faso to construct solar power plants

The government of Burkina Faso has received funding from the International Development Association ( IDA ). It intends to use part of the funds towards payments under environmental and social impact notices as well as resettlement action plans for the construction of 10MWc solar power plants in Kaya and 20MWp in Koudougou , in addition to consulting services .
These services include : a ) For environmental and social impact notices in accordance with Annex II of Decree 2015-1187 :
• the presentation of the context and the justification of the subproject ;
• the summary description of the subproject ;
• the objectives of the study ;
• the description of the methodology to be used to complete the study ;
• indication of options or possible variants ;
• the presentation of the limits of the study ;
• analysis of the initial state of the environment ( physical , biological , and socio-economic environment ) in the area of direct influence of the works ; developing the list of risks and potential negative or positive impacts arising from the subproject and setting priorities ;
• summary analysis of impacts and measures to mitigate / compensate / improve major environmental and social impacts ;
• the definition of the terms of consultation and public participation .
b ) For resettlement action plans :
• the presentation of the context and the justification of the project ;

• the presentation of resettlement principles and objectives in the context of the solar power plant ;
• identification of negative social impacts and measures to minimise relocations ;

• the realisation of the socio-economic survey of the affected populations
• the presentation of the results of the socioeconomic studies ;
• the presentation of the legal and institutional framework of the settlement ;
• the definition of eligibility criteria ;
• the assessment of the compensation of losses of the inhabitants ;
• the proposal for a monitoring and evaluation system for the implementation of the RAP ;
• the development of the estimated budget for the implementation of the RAP .

Ethiopia ’ s Gedo – Fincha – Lemlem Bereha Road

The government of Ethiopia has applied for financing from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development ( ADFD ), the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa ( BADEA ), and the Saudi Fund for Development ( SFD ), for the Gedo – Fincha – Lemlem Bereha Road upgrading project . The project under construction under a previous contract is terminated and the current tender plans to hire a new contractor for continuation of the remaining 60 % of construction works of Gedo – Fincha – Lemlem Bereha Road upgrading project , Contract 1 : Gedo – Menebegna ( 80.5km ), and intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this loan to eligible payments under the works contracts .
The Gedo – Fincha – Lemlem Bereha Road starts in Gedo town at the junction with Addis Nekempt Assosa trunk road . Gedo town is about 175km west of Addis Ababa . The road proceeds in a northerly direction for 80.5km up to Mana Begna .
The balance of work under this contract consists of upgrading of the remaining works of the project , which is linearly equivalent to a 50km length of the existing road to DS4 ( ERA-2002 Geometric Design Manual ) standard of asphalt concrete surface with carriageway width of 20m in Gedo and Wayu Wereda seat town sections , including 2m median width ; 18.5m in Goben and Gebete Wereda seat town sections , including 0.5m median width and 18m in Shumbo Wereda seat town section ; 12m in Kebele seat rural sections and 10m in rural sections , including all related structures and other ancillary works .
The envisaged construction period is 24 months .
