THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 23 May 2019 interests propose. Until we have such improved infrastructure, creating more traffic is a bad idea. Q&A ■ From Page 5 STEVE SWITZER: could end up with all of the problems caused by growth without any of the benefits. Q: ODOT doesn’t plan on reinforcing/widening the Boone Bridge for many years. Do you see another solution to the problem? BOB HARLAND: Other than a southbound auxiliary lane on I-5 from Wilsonville Road to the Canby exit, I believe that we need to consider very seriously any action that would create even more traffic in that area. I am talking here about the potential of additional vehicles — vehicles that would likely result from an expanded Aurora State Airport, as some business ODOT is a State Bureaucracy that does not think outside the box very well. A lot of that is budget and legislatively driven. Without sufficient information, any suggestions or input from us here in Charbonneau would be fruitless. CCC Board should and will continue to work with the Wilsonville and Canby City Councils, as well as the county and regional agencies, toward a solution. ANNE SHEVLIN: I support the development of the French Prairie Bridge for foot, bicycle and emergency vehicle use, but that solution only takes care of a fraction of the traffic concerns. Establishing relationships with our state senator and state representative can establish a voice for Charbonneau at the legislative level and further an agenda that supports more timely action to address traffic and safety concerns over the Boone Bridge. Q: What do you think the CCC Board’s priorities should be for 2019? STEVE SWITZER: The Board’s priorities are and should be the effective management of Charbonneau’s assets in support of our residents. This has a direct impact on property values and the quality of life here in our community. We also must continue to be sensitive to the effect of any increase in HOA fees. ANNE SHEVLIN: Priorities of the Board should include enhancing the village center, including its appearance, space and services, preserving the golf course as a principal amenity of the community and taking a leadership role in political decisions that affect our property values and nearby land uses. I desire to be involved in designing a future for Charbonneau that maintains a strong, vibrant community for many generations to come. BOB HARLAND: I believe that engaging the community should be a must, particularly on matters that will have a financial impact on residents. Engagement involves both informing and listening. Specific priorities include: a decision on the future of the Annex (i.e., the restaurant building), further research and discussion about the possibility of a future partnership with the Charbonneau Golf Club, what to do with the CCC’s aging marina and existing clubhouse. ■ I see more than just a car. While other insurers just see a set of wheels, I take the time to see what your car really means to you and give it the protection it deserves. LET’S TALK TODAY.
