26 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER CCC Activities By KIM HOSFORD Spring brings lots of opportunites for fun, friends Watercolors Class Sessions Begin March 6 Students will explore watercolor painting, materials, techniques and art history, and have fun in the process! Projects are directed toward the needs of the students, with care taken to address beginners and advanced designs. Students will be asked to call instructor to review supplies before class, in an effort to keep cost down, and make use of the student’s existing materials. Classes will be held in six-week sessions, $60, Wednesday mornings 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Charbonneau Country Club Fireplace room. The first session begins on Wednesday, March 6, and there is new material each week. Call Elaine to sign-up. 503- 989-1540. Charbonneau Shuttle Training: Let’s Visit the Wilsonville Library Have you tried our FREE Charbonneau Shuttle that travels from the Charbonneau area to major shopping destinations within Wilsonville? We need to increase ridership if we want this wonderful service to continue. Use it or lose it! We are planning a training session March 2019 on Thursday, March 21 at 10 .a.m. Park in the Charbonneau Country Club parking lot, catch the shuttle at 10 a.m. and let the driver know we want to be dropped off at the Wilsonville Library. Wear a comfortable pair of shoes and dress for the weather (umbrella optional) because we will need to walk about 50 yards to the bus stop when we are ready to head back to Charbonneau. Come and join us for this fun outing, which includes some walking on a spring day. Fourth Friday at Five Social Event The final “Fourth Friday at Five” of the year is happening on Friday, March 22, at 5 p.m. At this social event, residents will enjoy a light supper from one of our approved caterers. Be sure to bring your own beverage and enjoy the company of your fellow Charbonneau neighbors. If you know someone who has recently moved to Charbonneau, be sure to let them know about this event and how they can buy tickets, which are $5. It would be nice to invite newcomers to sit with you, make them feel welcome and introduce them to others. To attend, you will need to purchase a ticket, which go on sale at 9 a.m. March 1. If you put it off, you risk the chance of the event selling out. Only 150 reservations are available; tickets have been known to sell out in one day. As an added plus, CCC board members and the staff of the Villager will be on hand to discuss the latest Charbonneau news and answer any questions you may have. The Paint and Pour in April will focus on Easter; this group used their watercolors to create unique Valentine images in February. AARP Smart Driver Course An AARP Smart Driver Course will be held at Charbonneau Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, March 25-26, from 1 to 4 p.m. each day. The class is limited to the first thirty to sign up. Those over 55 may qualify for a discount on their automobile insurance. The discount continues for three years for those under 70, two years for those over 70. No driving or final examination is required. This course curriculum is the product of years of research, input from dedicated volunteers, and insight from experts across the transportation and driver safety industries. Register in the CCC office at 503- 694-2300 or email Office@ CharbonneauCountryClub.com. The course fee is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Checks should be made payable to AARP. The class will be taught by an AARP volunteer. Easter Paint & Pour On Friday, April 5, from 3-5:30 p.m., join us for an Easter Paint & Pour and help us find “The Easter Bunny.” He’s fast, but maybe with a little wine and a chocolate or two, we’ll have him painted! Paint and pours are designed for you to learn a little bit about watercolor and to have a lot of fun in the process. The cost is $20 and Elaine will have all the supplies you need. Charbonneau residents are invited to bring their own wine or soft drinks (some snacks will be provided). Call the CCC office to sign-up at 503-694- 2300.
