Niners

New members and
fundraisers for girls HS team
The Niners season begins with our
Welcome Back Coffee and new Members
Orientation Tuesday, April 2.
The agenda includes a light breakfast/
brunch. The Wilsonville High
School girls golf team and
Coach Nichols will stop by to
introduce the 2019 team and
thank us for our support.
Following the theme “Fit
to a Tee,” local physical
therapist, Jamie Dutra, Providence Health
(Wilsonville) Sports Therapy, will be
reviewing and demonstrating ways to get in
shape for the upcoming golf season. We will
be learning the “Tipping Bird!”
The Niners Rules Committee will review
some of the new golf rules; several will really
benefit us!
Our first Scramble will be played May 7.
Our theme is Niner-Ritaville. We will be
serving non-alcoholic margaritas in
celebration of Cinco de Mayo.
This season we have nine new members! I
will be introducing them in the next few issues.
Please welcome Bobbie Farinsky. Bobbie
and her husband are originally from San
Francisco and moved here from Palos Verdes.
Bobbie likes to play bridge, enjoys reading
and is an artist (paints).
Lindy Blaesing says she is now 100 percent
retired. Lindy was a hospice nurse for 30 years.
Barbra Edward also is newly retired. She
likes to play 9 holes and enjoys lunch with a
glass of iced tea! Barbra enjoys skiing and
hiking and reading.
Sandee Brown has an antique shop in
Canby, The Red Door. She enjoys reading,
being outdoors, fishing and playing golf with
her husband in the Thursday evening group.
She is active with Boys and Girls Aid, Cypress
Branch Auxiliary.
Kathryn Hartlaub hails from Pennsylvania.
She is now retired as a former teacher and
school principal. She enjoys traveling!
Kathryn has climbed Machu Picchu in Peru!
She just returned from Barcelona and will be
going to Europe and Sweden soon. Kathryn
practices Yoga, enjoys walking and being
with her 3 grandsons (another on the way).

WHS girls golf ready for action
We will have well over 20 girls
on our team this year (one of the
largest girls golf teams in the
state Oregon). We currently have
30 girls who have expressed an
interest in playing this year. We
are absolutely amazed at the
progress and growth of our girls
golf program. This is certainly a
credit to the great support we
have received from The Niners
Golf Club, Charbonneau Golf
Club, Sandelie Golf Club, our
school, our team and coaches. We
feel very fortunate to have so
many wonderful people and orga-
nizations supporting our team
and program. While we are
ecstatic about having such a great
turnout, it also presents some
challenges. Fortunately, we have
4 great assistant coaches return-
ing this year along with our head
coach, so we will be able to help
coach and teach our team the
game. The other challenge is team
uniforms and gear. We are in the
process of purchasing team polos
and long sleeve pullovers for all of
these girls. We receive $400 from
our school district per year for
girls golf expenses. We need
between $2,500 and $3,000 to pur-
chase gear for a team with this
many girls. We are reaching out
to you today to help us make up
the difference.  Will you “rally
round” our team so we can repre-
sent Wilsonville High School and
Wildcat golf around the state of
Oregon? You can help us reach
our goal today by donating.
