8 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER February 2019 Charbonneau Tennis Club By STEVE HALL CHARBONNEAU TENNIS CLUB MANAGER 48 club members celebrated the end of the year at the annual Charbonneau Tennis Club's New Year's Eve party and enjoyed social tennis, good food and beverages. The event was once again catered by Cutsforth's Market Catering in Canby, which did an outstanding job. Special thanks also go out to Joanne Smith, who decorated the club and conducted the door prize drawings, Glenn Good, who organized the tennis activities and Kathi Gray, who helped organize and plan the event. Thanks also go out to the vendors and club members who donated prizes for the drawing. The following is a summary of some of the achievements including projects that were completed this past year: ■ Power washed the outdoor courts ■ Sponsored 18 USTA teams ■ Conducted the 12th annual Charbonneau/Wilsonville Tennis Tournament which is one of the largest and well-run tournaments of its kind in the state of Oregon. The 2018 tournament drew almost 200 participants ■ Conducted a summer social and outstanding tennis exhibition featuring our tennis professional, Craig Koessler and 3 other local tennis professionals who provided a very entertaining and enjoyable match ■ Conducted a New Year's Eve party featuring complimentary food & beverages catered by Cutsforths Market Deli ■ Replaced the indoor court lights with LED lighting. This has resulted in significant savings to the club's electric bill ■ Replaced the gas furnace and associated thermostat ■ Purchased 2 additional fans for the indoor courts Schedule of Events: June 27-June 30: Charbonneau/ Wilsonville Tennis Tournament Aug 4: Summer Social/Tennis Exhibition/Barbecue ■ PROJECT STATUS The heating system has been replaced. It includes a new thermostat that is easier to operate. The club’s re-carpeting project is planned to be completed by the end of January 2019. An improved drinking fountain was installed in the club entryway in early January.
