Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Round Rock Again Named Top 100 Hospital
As the hospital reaches its 10th anniversary , it continues to be recognized for patient care , safety , satisfaction , and more
For the second time , Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Round Rock is nationally recognized as a top 100 hospital by health care analytics companies Truven Health and IBM Watson Health . In their assessment , the companies analyzed patient outcomes , safety and satisfaction , as well as costs and the usage of evidencebased treatments from data collected from Medicaid and Medicare . The organizations also took the financial health and stability of the hospitals into account as it analyzed more than 2,700 hospitals nationwide .
“ This award validates the incredible work that we do on a day-to-day basis for our patients and community . We are constantly focused on good outcomes for our patients , and good utilization of our resources ,” says Jay Fox , the president of Baylor Scott & White Health – Austin / Round Rock Region . The 101-bed Round Rock hospital also received the award in 2012 , and has served the rapidly growing Travis and Williamson counties for ten years . It is supported by an

outpatient center that includes a large primary care clinic , a specialty clinic with an advanced imaging center , and a new cancer center .
Truven Health estimates that if all hospitals in the United
States achieved the benchmarks set by those on the Top 100 list , almost 90,000 lives would be saved each year . A typical patient would be released from the hospital a half day earlier , and more than 300,000 discharged patients would not be readmitted . The total cost savings for these benchmark hospitals compared to the average would be $ 5.6 billion .
