Community Outreach Grants Awarded to NYU Lutheran Dental
HRSA - Loan Repayment and Faculty Development Grant
This $ 1.4M grant over 5 years supports a loan repayment program for faculty , recruit faculty to participate in an educational program that will culminate in a Master ’ s Degree in Education for faculty members , provide equipment for faculty to participate in remote supervision of faculty and residents at all of the applicant ’ s partner CHCs , develop educational modules that faculty members can access online for learning about dental education and working with underserved populations , and to continue to provide an annual Faculty Development Conference for team building and continuing education purposes related to careers in dental education and public health dentistry .
HRSA – Ryan White Grant
This $ 1.1M one-year grant The Ryan White Program awarded LMC Dental a grant to incorporate protocols into the dental residency curricula so that dental healthcare professionals are well-trained in the safe and compassionate treatment of HIV / AIDS patients . Examples of how grant funds are used are : direct patient services , patient education or outreach , curriculum development , student education / training , staff education / training , clinic staff salary / support , equipment / instruments / supplies / materials , pharmaceuticals or dental medicaments , and faculty development .
Community-Based Dental Partnership Program
This Community-Based Dental Partnership Grant of $ 228,436 provides oral health services to HIV / AIDS patients at our affiliate site in Tucson , Arizona ( El Rio Health Centers ).
Congratulations to Grady Health System in Georgia !
Grady Health System has been fully funded for the 18 th consecutive year . They also received the Grady Foundation grant to support removable prosthetics and a HRSA Oral Health Expansion Grant to move their preventive program into Pitt Country Schools .
Congratulations to Washington State PEDS Residents !
Two NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine PEDS Residents were featured in the Yakima Herald July 4 , 2016 edition , Career Development Section . " The Washington State Academy of Pediatric Dentists Foundation has awarded resident research grants to Drs . Matthew Whitesides and Mike Rees , who are Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic residents , as part of the NYU Lutheran Yakima Pediatric Dental Residency program . Whitesides and Rees will be given $ 500 toward their respective research projects , “ Survival of Restorations on Primary Molars Placed under General Anesthesia ” and “ Descriptive Study of Limited Oral Evaluations for Pediatric Dental Patients at Federally Qualified Health Centers .”
