" Variables Affecting General Anesthesia Time for Pediatric Dental Cases " identifies variables affecting procedural times for dental treatments performed in the operating room under general anesthesia .

Drs . Jose Navarro , Khushbu Patel , Kevin Walker , and Jesse Wright , NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine Orthodontic Program residents , were published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics , February 2016 , Vol 149 , Issue 2 . They were published in the Residents ’ Journal Review section for their review of the following articles : “ Surgery first for orthognathic patients ?” “ Miniscrew anchorage ,” “ Gingival response with self-ligating and conventional brackets ,” and “ First molar extractions .”

Dr . Tania Arthur , NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine Dental Public Health ( DPH ) resident 2014-2015 and current NYU Lutheran AEGD resident at the Foundry Dental Center in Bessemer , AL , had her DPH research project accepted for publication in the February 2016 issue of the journal Pediatrics . Dr . Arthur performed a national study of non-dental providers , such as physicians , PAs and nurse practitioners , who provided preventive dental services such as fluoride varnish to children enrolled in the Medicaid program . This is a promising approach to increase access to preventive dental care for low-income children who visit the pediatrician regularly but don ' t have access to regular dental care because of very limited participation by dentists in the Medicaid program . Dr . Arthur started the project while pursuing her Masters in Public Health ( MPH ) degree at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health in Chapel Hill and completed the project during her NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine DPH residency at El Rio Community Health Center in Tucson , AZ .

Dr . Rajab Zaza , a NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine AEGD resident at Community Dental Care in Dallas , TX , was published in the January 29 , 2016 issue of Orthodontic Practice US . Dr . Rajab Zaza and coauthor Dr . Larry White , a Dallas-based private practice orthodontist , discussed a newer , simpler , and less invasive method of gingival control in their article entitled “ A new method of controlling gingival hypertrophy with orthodontic patients .”
