Dr . Frank Serio Receives Humanitarian Award from ADA
Congratulations to Dr . Francis G . “ Frank ” Serio , NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine AEGD faculty member at Greene County Health Care in North Carolina , who received the Humanitarian Award at the American Dental Association Conference ( ADA ) held Nov . 5-8 , 2015 in Washington , DC . Dr . Serio was recognized for his more than three decades of service . In 1982 , Dr . Serio made a one-man mission trip to provide dental care in a remote region in the Dominican Republic . Today , over 30 years later , the Dominican Dental Mission Project has provided care to thousands of residents in poor rural areas of the country .

Congratulations to Dr . Zuly Arencibia , a NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine AEGD 2016 graduate at the University of Puerto Rico Health Center , who was accepted into the worldrenowned Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education postdoctoral Periodontics Residency Program . Ranked as the # 1 hospital in the nation , the highly coveted Mayo School ' s Periodontics Residency Program offers only one position every 18 months . Dr . Arencibia is the first student from the University of Puerto Rico who will participate in the program . •••
Dr . John Kiang Selected as the 2016 Hauk Scholarship Recipient
Congratulations to Dr . John Kiang , NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine Pediatric Dentistry PGY-2 resident at St . Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island in Providence , who was named winner of the 2016 Mary J . Hauk , DDS , MPH Memorial Scholarship for Dental Residents , which provides a one-year student membership in the American Cleft Palate Association ( ACPA ) and $ 500 toward travel expenses to attend organization ’ s annual meeting , held in Atlanta , Georgia in April 2016 .

Congratulations to 2015 NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine Pediatric Dentistry graduates Dr . Anna Abrahamian Ross ( PEDS / Rhode Island ) and Dr . Melody Greene ( PEDS / Arizona-South ). Both were recipients of the 2015 Richard C . Pugh Award , which is conferred upon graduates who score in the top 3 % of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry written qualifying exam .
••• Dr . Scott Hollis Receives Faculty Enrichment Award
Congratuations to Scott Hollis , DDS , MDS ( Prosthodontics ) and AEGD NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine Assistant Director , University of Tennessee Health Center College of Dentistry ( UTHSC ), who received the John S . Diggs Nelson Faculty Enrichment Award Faculty Enrichment Award from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center during a presentation at the college ’ s Bowyer Lecture , held in February 2016 . The awards are funded annually through enrichment endowments established by alumni and friends of UTHSC . Dr . Hollis also received the Albright award from the Oral Surgery Department at the University in June 2016 and was promoted to Associate Professor in July .
